Travel has overtaken work, university and even mutual friends as the number one place where people form meaningful new relationships, according to new research. A study of 5,000 adults aged between 20 and 40 across the UK, Italy, Spain, France & Germany has found that nearly half (45%) believe travelling is now the best way to get to know new people – outperforming traditional social settings including work, university and introductions through existing friends.

UN Tourism and The Bench have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration to advance tourism investment, innovation, and education on a global scale.

The agreement was signed during a formal ceremony in Madrid by Shaikha Al Nuwais, Secretary-General of UN Tourism, and Ali Shahid, Chief Executive Officer of The Bench. UN Tourism has been actively involved with The Bench’ events for many years, including FHS Saudi Arabia which took place in Riyadh last week, and this partnership is a natural next step to further elevate the collaboration.

From July 3-5, 2026, Cappadocia will host the 2nd Cappadocia Horse and Equestrian Culture Festival at the Göreme Festival Area, to celebrate the region’s rich equestrian heritage.

Known historically as “the land of beautiful horses,” Cappadocia will have three days of traditional and contemporary horse shows – featuring Turkish and international performers – as well as such competitions as mounted archery, horseback displays and traditional racing events. There will also be exhibitions and panel discussions, live performances, children’s play zones, guided horseback riding experiences, and traditional demonstrations like cirit (Turkish javelin throwing).
