Matthias Spohr appointed Chief Operating Officer of Eurowings
Matthias Spohr, currently Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH, will join the Executive Board of Eurowings as Chief Operating Officer (COO) on 1 October 2026. He will be responsible for Crew Operations, Flight Operations, Ground & Customer Operations, Safety, Security & Compliance Monitoring, Lean Management, Digitalisation & Processes, as well as Technical Fleet Management/Eurowings Technik. As a member of the three-person Executive Board headed by CEO Max Kownatzki, Spohr will succeed Edi Wolfensberger. Wolfensberger will become the new CEO of Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading leisure airline, which is also part of the Lufthansa Group. -

Virgin Voyages charts a new northern course to Scandinavia & the Baltics for 202
Virgin Voyages will operate its inaugural Scandinavia and the Baltics season in summer 2028, with Valiant Lady homeporting in Amsterdam for the first time.The adults-only cruise line will offer six sailings between July and September 2028, ranging from seven to 12 nights, with 15 maiden ports. The programme includes two Western Europe voyages between Barcelona and Amsterdam, four Northern Europe sailings roundtrip from Amsterdam and an itinerary crossing the Arctic Circle.
