Matthias Spohr appointed Chief Operating Officer of Eurowings
Matthias Spohr, currently Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH, will join the Executive Board of Eurowings as Chief Operating Officer (COO) on 1 October 2026. He will be responsible for Crew Operations, Flight Operations, Ground & Customer Operations, Safety, Security & Compliance Monitoring, Lean Management, Digitalisation & Processes, as well as Technical Fleet Management/Eurowings Technik. As a member of the three-person Executive Board headed by CEO Max Kownatzki, Spohr will succeed Edi Wolfensberger. Wolfensberger will become the new CEO of Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading leisure airline, which is also part of the Lufthansa Group. -
